Is Wise legal and regulated in Belgium?
Yes. Wise is authorised by the National Bank of Belgium (NBB) as an Electronic Money Institution under Belgian and EU law. Wise has operated in Belgium since 2016 and is fully compliant with Belgian financial regulations including AML/KYC requirements.
Can I use Wise for my Belgian BV/SRL or eenmanszaak?
Yes. Wise Business supports all Belgian legal forms: BV/SRL (besloten vennootschap / sociรฉtรฉ ร responsabilitรฉ limitรฉe), NV/SA, VOF/SNC, and sole traders (eenmanszaak / entreprise individuelle). You'll need your KBO/BCE enterprise number and identity documents during registration.
Does Wise work with Belgian accounting software like Exact or Winbooks?
Wise provides CSV and MT940 bank statement exports that are compatible with most Belgian accounting packages. Direct integration is available with Xero and QuickBooks. For Exact Online, Winbooks, or BOB Software, use the MT940 export to import transactions. Many Belgian accountants are already familiar with Wise exports.
Can my Belgian supplier receive payments from my Wise account?
Yes. You can send SEPA transfers from your Wise Business account to any Belgian bank (BNP Paribas Fortis, KBC, Belfius, ING, Fintro, etc.). The transfer appears as a normal SEPA credit transfer from your BE IBAN. Belgian domestic transfers are typically free and instant via SEPA Instant.
